JPEG, PNG, GIF, and video formats have different visual and size tradeoffs. Keep editable source files separate from delivery exports.
Putting the guide into practice
Record the intended MIME type, file size, and export settings. Check that the file's contents decode as expected and that the provider supports the intended configuration.

Limits and review decisions
Renaming a file extension does not convert its contents. The local checker reports browser metadata and cannot certify every media codec.
